No one knows the pain of underground utilities in the middle of construction like the construction workers themselves. This is a problem that affects nearly all construction workers and excavators carrying out their work in modern cities. Cities are filled with underground tunnels with telephone, power and fibre optic cables competing for the little space with gas and water mains, sewer pipes and waste water drains. Sorting through these different utilities is a confusing process even for the most experienced excavators. This process is even more challenging when the realization is that these utilities date back to as far as the 19th century. A greater challenge lies in how to locate underground utilities. They are a factor that a contractor may or may not face during their work but should be ready to deal with.
